Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 August 2026

cropagora helps Zambian farmers see what their crops are worth and connect with buyers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using cropagora, you agree to it.

1. Information we collect

  • Account details: your phone number, your name, an email address, and a password you set. Email is required at the moment because we use it to verify your account while SMS is unavailable.
  • Profile: a public handle and display name, and optionally your province and district.
  • Farm information (only if you add it): your fields, including map boundaries and GPS location, your crops, and your livestock.
  • Things you post: marketplace listings, community posts, comments, messages, and any price alerts you set up.
  • Photos: images you upload for a crop or animal health check.
  • Usage and device data: basic technical information such as your IP address, device type and app activity, kept in our server logs to run and secure the service.

2. How we use your information

We use it to create and secure your account and send one-time codes to sign in or reset your password; to show you daily prices, planting and selling guidance, and price alerts you choose to receive; to run the marketplace and community; to provide the crop and animal health check; and to keep cropagora safe, prevent abuse and comply with the law.

3. When we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these ways:
  • With other users, as part of using cropagora: your public profile, posts and marketplace listings are visible to other members. Your phone number is never shown publicly.
  • With service providers who help us run cropagora, and only for that purpose: an SMS/email provider to send verification codes and notifications; a weather service that receives a field's location to return its forecast; and an image-analysis provider that receives a photo you submit for the health check. Some of these providers operate outside Zambia.
  • With Meta, through the measurement tool described in section 4 below. This applies to the website only.
  • When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

4. Analytics and advertising

On this website, we use the Meta pixel, a small piece of code from Meta (Facebook). It tells us how many people visit and which pages they open, so that when we pay to advertise cropagora we can tell whether the money did anything. It sets cookies and shares your IP address and browsing on this site with Meta, who may connect it to a Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. We do not send Meta your name, phone number or email address.

The Android app does not do this. It carries no Meta software and no advertising or analytics tools of any kind. When we link to the app on Google Play, we tag the link so Play can tell us which advert or post an install came from. That tells us the source, not who you are.

You can refuse it. Browsers can block third-party cookies and scripts, and a browser "Do Not Track" or tracker-blocking setting will stop the pixel loading. Refusing changes nothing about how cropagora works: prices, the marketplace and your account are unaffected.

5. How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards as needed to run the service, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.

6. Security

We protect your information with measures such as encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to fix issues quickly.

7. Your choices and rights

You can view and update your profile in the app at any time, and you can ask us to correct or delete your information by contacting us. In line with Zambia's data-protection law, you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

8. Children

cropagora is intended for adults who can enter a contract under Zambian law. It is not directed at children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as cropagora grows. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If you keep using cropagora after a change, that means you accept the update.

10. Contact us
